What is Beyond Permanent Jewelry?
Permanent jewelry is a special jewelry experience where a chain is welded closed around your wrist, ankle, or neck without a traditional clasp. It is designed to symbolize connection, memory, and a meaningful moment.
At BU Jewelry Social, we offer something we call Beyond Permanent Jewelry.
Beyond Permanent Jewelry gives you more flexibility. If you love the look and meaning of permanent jewelry but are not ready to have the chain welded permanently, you can choose a traditional clasp instead. This allows you to enjoy the same beautiful chain and design experience, while still being able to remove your jewelry whenever you want.
You can choose the option that feels right for you: welded permanent jewelry or a clasp-finished piece.
What are the jewelry chains made of?
We use only premium precious metal chains made in the USA or Italy.
Our chain options include:

14K 1/20 gold-filled chains
We carefully select our materials for quality, durability, and beauty, so you can create a piece you will enjoy wearing for a long time.
Do I need jewelry-making experience?
No experience is needed.
Our programs are designed for everyone, whether you have jewelry design experience or are trying it for the first time. Our jewelry artists will guide you step by step through the process.
You do not need to know how to design jewelry, assemble jewelry, or use jewelry tools. We will help you choose your materials, design your piece, and create something beautiful and personal.
Just come ready to have fun and be creative.
Can kids participate?
Because we use precious metal materials, small jewelry components, jewelry tools, and welding equipment, we recommend participants be at least 12 years old.
Younger guests may be able to participate in certain activities with adult supervision, depending on the session and project. If you have special needs or questions about whether an activity is suitable for your child, please contact us before booking.
What can I create at BU Jewelry Social?
Depending on the experience you choose, you may create bracelets, necklaces, anklets, charm jewelry, gemstone bracelets, or permanent jewelry.
Each piece is designed by you, with guidance from our jewelry artists. You can choose your chain, gemstones, charms, and finishing details to create a piece that reflects your style and story.
Is the jewelry really made by me?
Yes. The experience is designed to let you participate in the creative process.
Our jewelry artists will guide you through the design and making process. Depending on the project, you may design, select materials, arrange components, and assemble parts of your jewelry. For steps that require special tools, safety, or professional finishing, our jewelry artists will assist you.
You will walk away with a finished piece that was created through your own design choices.
Do I have to get permanent jewelry welded?
No.
Permanent welding is optional. If you prefer, you can choose a traditional clasp so your jewelry can be removed. This is what makes our Beyond Permanent Jewelry experience flexible and comfortable for more guests.
Is permanent jewelry safe?
Yes. The welding process is quick and does not touch your skin. A small protective layer is placed between your skin and the jewelry during welding.
Our trained jewelry artists handle the welding equipment and guide the process carefully. If you have any concerns, you can always choose a clasp instead.
How long does the experience take?
The length of the experience depends on the program you choose and the number of guests.
Individual appointments and open sessions are usually shorter, while private parties and group events may take longer. When booking, you will see the estimated time for each experience.
Can I book a private party?
Yes. BU Jewelry Social is a great choice for birthdays, family gatherings, girls’ day out, teen celebrations, bridal events, corporate activities, and other group experiences.
For private parties, please contact us with your preferred date, group size, and the type of jewelry experience you are interested in. We will help you plan the right event.
